Beaumont, CA – The Beaumont Police and Riverside County Sheriff patrol cars were seen parked at a Beaumont Unified School District elementary school on Friday, February 7. They were on scene at Three Rings Ranch Elementary School after being hailed to the site to volunteer for the College and Career Fair day.
The law enforcement agents were joined by nearly 80 other local employers at the elementary school where students crowded around interactive displays with curious eyes and questions. The employers represented at the event included small businesses like Elite Pool Plumbing and Lindsey Medley-Embroidery Shop, as well as large corporations like Stater Bros. There were also plenty of educational programs, such as Concord College-Dental Hygiene and Beaumont School of Trucking. “Our goal was to expose our students to as many college and career pathways as possible,” explained Principal Mandy McClure who hosted the event alongside the AVID Leadership Team.
Approximately 800 students attended the College and Career Fair with a small number of kids dressed as their dream job. Second grade student Mia Madrid wore pink scrubs and a matching pink surgical mask. “I like math and I like science and I like helping people. A nurse is the perfect job for me,” she shared with a beaming smile. Other students were seen wearing police uniforms, and firefighter helmets. Other less recognizable uniforms may have been jeans and sneakers to represent Silicon Valley tech founders.
The focus on getting students to think about their future careers is a major focus of the Beaumont Unified School District. “Whether a student dreams of attending an ivy-league school or obtaining employment in the trades immediately after graduation, we will ensure they are equipped to flourish beyond their wildest aspirations,” Superintendent Mays Kakish told School News Roll Call in the 2025-2026 Riverside County Superintendents Edition. The District recently received the 2024 California School Boards Association Golden Bell Award in the category of Career Technical Education. The award was issued to the District for its successful and proven efforts in supporting students in both future career plans, as well as college.
